We're Buzzing with thanks
You’ve helped us to raise over £2,300 for the British Liver Trust!
What do you do when a charity helps one of your friends and fellow villager recover after a liver transplant? You do a wing walk!
In a daring stunt that pushed the boundaries of her comfort zone, our editor recently took to the skies dressed as a bumblebee (why not). Stepping out onto the wings of a vintage Stearman biplane, she embarked on a wing walk to raise funds for the British Liver Trust. At the time of writing, with the support of our readers, her fearless endeavour (including gift aid) has generated over £2300 for this important charity.
Her motivation for taking on this challenge stems from her friend Natasha, who underwent a liver transplant due to hereditary polycystic liver and kidney disease. The British Liver Trust provided invaluable assistance throughout the transplant process, which inspired our editor to give back.
Abi Hurst, representing the British Liver Trust, expressed their gratitude for our fundraising efforts. As a small charity, this significant sum will greatly contribute to its mission of supporting those in need of their services.
When asked about the experience, Hellen admitted to being terrified - she made a promise to herself to embrace opportunities outside of her comfort zone this year. “It’s all about giving back more than you take out” she told us. “Our readers and supporters have been so generous and I can’t thank them enough for their generosity - especially at a time when money is tight.”
