Owned and run by Alex Hawes and Helen Waters and supported by coaches Seth, Craig, Sian, Leigh, Ann-Marie, Jamie and Damien, the team have created a warm, positive and genuinely welcoming environment; offering a full programme of CrossFit and Hyrox classes, along with Open Gym sessions for anyone who prefers to train independently.

What people notice first and foremost is the friendly, encouraging atmosphere. Whether you are returning to fitness or stepping into a gym for the first time, the coaches are always ready with guidance, reassurance and expert advice. Many members say it feels more like being welcomed into a happy family than joining a gym. The Sunday morning class is a firm favourite, too - helped by the (almost obligatory) post-workout coffee meet-up at Aldermaston Tea Rooms or Starbucks!

CrossFit itself has a long and well-established history. Founded in California in 1995, it is now practised in thousands of affiliated CrossFit gyms around the world, with a thriving and supportive community here in the UK.

At its core, CrossFit is a strength and conditioning programme built around a constantly changing mix of high-intensity workouts, and no two classes are ever the same. This variety is ideal if you find repetitive routines dull or struggle to stay motivated with standard gym sessions. Workouts combine elements of interval training, weightlifting, gymnastics and aerobic exercise, centred around the WOD (Workout of the Day) aimed at building all-round fitness rather than a focus on just one discipline. A wide range of equipment is used, including barbells, kettlebells, plyo boxes, rings, mats and rowers and air cycles.

Each class lasts around an hour and includes a warm-up, a skill or strength segment, the high intensity WOD and a cool down. The coaches scale the load and intensity for every individual, which means the programme suits all ages and abilities - you simply work at your own level under expert guidance.
