Before the Paris Olympics next month, Team GB aims to add to their impressive haul of 46 medals, including 13 golds. The Olympics often inspire us to try new hobbies. If you, your children, or friends want to try air rifle target shooting - perhaps you need ideas for a school holiday activity or a birthday party? We’ve unholstered just the place!
Tucked away just 3 mins from junction 11 of the M4 at Grazeley, you’ll find Gravelley Bridge Shooting Association’s Air Rifle Club, (GBARC). Offering a safe and comfortable place for all abilities and ages, the club which is open to members and non-members has a variety of targets, ranging from pest-shaped targets, paper targets for practice and precision at 32, 55 and 90 yards, as well as exploding targets. You can decide whether to share a lane and a rifle with your friends, or have your own rifle and lane. You will be given 100 pellets for every hour you shoot, so plenty of ammo.
Of course, safety is always top priority and a range Officer will be on hand at all times to ensure everyone is using the rifles and the range safely. The team will show you how to safely use the air rifles and how to conduct yourself appropriately at the range. There’s no age limit as juniors are accompanied by an adult at all times. The rifles there are ‘sub 12ft lbs’, and are not subject to licensing.
For those who would prefer to observe are good facilities on-site, too with a large parking area adjacent to a warm and welcoming clubhouse. Shooters, parents and guests can relax and enjoy light refreshments in front of the viewing gallery for the 9 lane air rifle range. Refreshments and food can be provided. There is also an outside patio seating area if you’d prefer to soak up some summer rays.
